Orbitz Worldwide, a leading online traveling booking company, wanted an interiors design of its 17,000-square-foot Dallas office.
Case Study
Because the Orbitz team would not be onsite for much of the project, it needed a highly communicative team to ensure every milestone was met. The team selected by Orbitz included real estate broker and project manager CBRE, project architect HOK, and general contractor Abstract Construction. The project budget was $610,000.
The main challenge presented by the project revolved around planning the concrete work properly so the installation was on track and did not impact the end schedule.
Abstract Construction was charged with realizing the client’s vision for a bold, contemporary, and colorful interior design, and ensuring the project was completed on time and on budget. The Abstract Construction team offered total management control and field supervision for all subcontractors to ensure the daily task aligned with Orbitz Worldwide’s objectives. Abstract Construction was also responsible for facilitating communication and relaying vital information to the client located offsite. From overseeing the construction of the vaulted ceilings and pivot door system to ensuring that each colorful acrylic wall was installed properly, the Abstraction Construction team managed every detail.
The whimsical and modern interiors design project for Orbitz Worldwide’s Dallas office was a success. Through frequent and ongoing communication between the architect, superintendent, and the client, Abstract Construction delivered the results the client wanted. The newly designed space is fun, inviting, and reflective of the Orbitz brand.
